Chris Lowe
Dear editor:
I totally agree with the letter in last Wednesday’s paper written by Peter and Linda York regarding the selling of the property on Front and Nelson Streets to a contractor in Thunder Bay.
I thought the mayor and council were willing to support the Assisted Living Action Group (A.L.A.G.) in Fort Frances. How? By selling off the property that would have benefitted our seniors.
Of course revenue is badly needed by the town. But the assisted living building would be paying town taxes like everyone else, keeping our seniors in the district here, and adding another attraction to bring seniors to our beautiful town.
Need money? Sell those million-dollar lots sitting empty on Williams Avenue.
For four years, a dedicated, hard-working group has been working toward building this much-needed project. In a few years, you in council will be wanting assisted living.
Too bad if it is not there for you.
Thank you, Mr. Editor, for allowing my opinion to be printed.
(Signed),
Chris Lowe
