Kiera Fairnington of the Fort Frances AtoMC Icebergs looked to have the corner picked on this shot but just missed the right post during her team’s 1-0 semi-final win over the Dryden Riptides during the Fort Frances Girls’/Women’s Hockey Association’s Novice tournament yesterday at the Ice For Kids Arena. Fairnington scored in regulation and again in the shootout as the Icebergs nipped the Lake of the Woods Stings 2-1 in the gold-medal game. Meanwhile, the Tim Hortons Bruins (Fort Frances) reached the final of the Atom girls’ tournament also being held here before falling 4-1 to the Dryden Flames.
