Town council is sporting a full agenda this evening, with a slew of presenters slated.
First up, council will receive a presentation from Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre CEO Alicia Subnaik Kilgour and board chair Andrew Hallikas on the library’s new strategic plan.
Then it will hear from resident Carey Basaraba regarding proper protocols for government.
Geoff Gillon and Tannis Drysdale then will provide a report on what the Rainy River Future Development Corp. has been up to of late.
As well, the four executive committee chairs will provide bi-annual division activity reports for Planning & Development (Coun. Doug Kitowski), Operations & Facilities (Coun. Paul Ryan), Administration & Finance (Coun. Ken Perry), and Community Services (Coun. Perry).
The committee of the whole first will hold a budget meeting starting at 3:30 p.m.
Then at 5:30 p.m., it will go in-camera for an indefinite amount of time to discuss two items before being re-opened to the public.
The regular meeting of council will follow.
Other business on the agenda includes:
•a financial request from Rainy River District Festival Association.
•a financial request from Heart of the Continent Partnership;
•a request from Suds and Tubs Laundromat re: a parking sign in front of 515 Portage Ave.;
•a request for support from the International Boundary Waters Dragon Boat Festival;
•a request from TBT Engineering Consulting Group re: Ontario Ministry of Transportation highway improvements on Highway 11 from Fort Frances to just east of Highway 502;
•a bylaw to approve a land use agreement with the Governing Council of the Salvation Army of Canada for the construction of an accessibility ramp at 353 Scott St.;
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with Scatliff Miller Murray for architectural services related to the Rainy Lake Market Square;
•a bylaw to impose water and sewer user fees;
•a bylaw to amend certain user fees in 2016 (parking);
•a bylaw to authorize the entering into of a renewal lease agreement with Bearskin Lake Air Service LP at the Fort Frances Airport (office, counter and storage space); and
•a bylaw to authorize the entering into of a renewal lease agreement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Ltd. at the Fort Frances Airport (counter space).
