I would like to express how impressed I am with the support the community has given the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts.
Our talent show and bake sale fundraiser last week was very well-attended and the response the performers received from the audience was enthusiastic.
This is the 76th year of the festival and unlike many others, the participation keeps growing. Past adjudicators have been surprised by the large number of entries the festival has each year and have encouraged us to keep this momentum going.
Being on stage and performing is a frightening prospect. I have had the pounding heart and sweaty palms, too. But the sense of accomplishment and the confidence it gives to the performer is invaluable.
I encourage anyone of any age who has an interest in drama or music to consider entering a class. There are many classes where the focus is more on participating than on competing.
