Nominations open for business awards

Know of a business that deserves recognition?
Nominations are open for the 20th-annual Rainy River District Business Awards, which will take place Thursday, Feb. 11 at La Place Rendez-Vous.
“The nomination process has now begun,” Jennifer Soderholm, executive director of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce, said this morning.
She noted people can download the nomination forms from the Chamber’s website (www.fortfranceschamber.com)
Forms also are available for pick-up at Energy Fitness, the Rendez-Vous, Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, NCDS, and the Chamber office.
The award categories include:
•Business of the Year;
•Entrepreneur of the Year;
•Employee of the Year Award;
•Business Woman of the Year;
•Customer Service Award (Individual);
•Customer Service Award (Business);
•Home-Based Business Award;
•Small Business Trainer of the Year Award; and
•Tony Beyak Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award.
Anyone can nominate any district business or employee—they don’t have to be Chamber members to nominate others or be nominated.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 1.
Online voting then will begin Tuesday, Feb. 2 and run until Monday, Feb. 8 at 11:59 p.m.
Winners will be announced at the awards gala, which is open to the public and all businesses (Chamber member or not).
It will feature dinner and entertainment in the form of “The Wonderist” Chris Funk, who was featured on the TV show, “Penn & Teller Fool Us.”
Cocktails at are 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30.
Tickets cost $45 each for Chamber members and $50 for non-members.
