OTTAWA—Statistics Canada says the country’s post-secondary institutions saw more people both enrolling and graduating during the 2013-14 school year.
The federal agency said enrolments climbed 1.2 percent over 2012 levels as more than two million students began classes at a public college or university.
StatsCan said about 10 percent of those students came from abroad as international enrolments maintained a long-standing upward trend by rising 2.5 percent from the year before.
Business, humanities, and law programs accounted for nearly half of all post-secondary enrolments.
StatsCan noted the number of people graduating from a college or university program also rose four percent to just under 499,000.
It said women represented 58 percent of graduates and 56 percent of total enrolments, maintaining levels established in 2012.
