Saturday was for fun; but now things get serious.
The eight-time defending champion Muskie boys’ hockey team begins its quest for another NorWOSSA crown—and OFSAA berth—tonight against the host Dryden Eagles in the regular-season opener.
Fort High and Dryden had an epic battle in last season’s NorWOSSA final, with the Eagles shocking the Muskies with a Game 1 road win before the black-and-gold fought back to capture the best-of-three series.
The Muskies are coming off two losses and a tie at the pre-season “Scrimmagefest” event in Warroad, Mn. on Saturday.
Jordan Sinclair has assumed interim head coaching duties with Jamie Davis taking a personal leave of absence following the passing of his infant daughter, Addilyn, late last month.
Sinclair will be assisted by last year’s captain, Carter Brown, and Ken “Keno” Christiansen, who will be behind the bench for his 51st-consecutive season-opener dating back to the team’s inception.
The Muskies will entertain their home fans for the first time Friday when the Sioux Lookout Warriors visit the Ice For Kids Arena for a 7:15 p.m. showdown.
The two squads then will cap the series Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at the ’52 Canadians Arena.
