The Northwest Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that it will receive an estimated $11.9 million dollars for the construction of a new school in Fort Frances.
The new school will be built on the current St. Francis School site and will consolidate St. Michael’s and St. Francis Schools.
The funding was provided through the 2015 Capital Priorities program following a Board application for approval to construct a school that will accommodate 345 pupils.
“We would like to acknowledge the Ministry of Education for their support of this important priority within our Board,” said board chair Cathy Bowen.
“The construction of a new school will provide our students with an engaging learning environment to focus on student achievement and well-being,” she added.
“This is great news for our students,” echoed Director of Education Rick Boisvert.
“This new school will allow our students to shift from the older school buildings to a new building that will be designed to reflect the 21st Century learning that is a focus in our schools and classrooms,” he said.
