Just one new fire was confirmed by yesterday afternoon.
Kenora Fire #30, located on an island on the Winnipeg River, has been declared “out” at 0.1 hectares.
Meanwhile, Kenora Fire #29 and Red Lake Fire #6 are now “under control.”
Red Lake Fire #8 is listed as “being held.”
There are 10 fires active in the region, including a 1.2-ha blaze that’s listed as “being observed” in Quetico Provincial Park.
The forest fire hazard is “low” for most of the region.
Two of the larger fires include Red Lake Fire #7, located in Woodland Caribou Park.
It currently is classed as “not under control” at 600 ha in size.
Red Lake Fire #10, also located in Woodland Caribou Park, now is 650 ha in size.
Minimal fire behaviour was reported on active fires after precipitation moved into the region.
