Town asked to join mural mosaic

The Town of Fort Frances is being asked to take part in a nation-wide mural mosaic project to commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017.
The project is called “Canada 150 Mosaic.”
Project co-ordinator Tracy Oliver notified council last night that if the town was interested, the project would come to Fort Frances at a time it chooses within the next two years leading up to the 150th celebration.
She explained that “Canada 150 Mosaic” would work with local citizens to create a community mural here.
This mural then will become part of the national mural to be made in time for July 1, 2017.
“It would be wonderful to see the project bring a mural to Fort Frances,” Oliver wrote in a letter to council.
Council received her letter at its meeting regular meeting last night.
The request was referred to the Community Services executive committee for its recommendation.
