Switch causes power outage

Staff

About 600 Fort Frances Power Corp. customers in the east end of town experienced a brief power interruption yesterday afternoon when a switch failed on a pole near Rose Manor.
The outage occurred at 3:55 p.m. and lasted for less than 10 minutes for most customers.
The exception were residents of Rose and Green Manors, who didn’t have power restored until 6:38 p.m.
The defective switch, which is a rare occurrence for the FFPC, sparked a fire that burned down the hydro pole.
FFPC crew members replaced the pole today.
