The Canada Border Services Agency is anticipating heavy traffic volumes at ports of entry in Northern Ontario this Victoria Day weekend.
As such, travellers are advised to plan their border crossing outside of peak traffic periods if possible.
They can check border wait times on the CBSA’s website or on Twitter.
Travellers also can consult the CBSA’s Forecasted Border Wait Times Tool, which provides historical wait times for the 26 busiest ports of entry.
At the Fort Frances port of entry, peak traffic volumes are anticipated today (May 15) from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday, May 18 from 2-3 p.m., when border wait times may exceed 30 minutes.
Travellers also can help speed up processing by ensuring they have proper identification for everyone in their vehicle readily available upon arrival at the primary inspection booth, as well as receipts for purchases in hand.
