Dress giveaway set

Anyone in need of a prom or special occasion dress might want to stop by “Curvy Chick” here Saturday.
Owner Jennifer Horton said she still has dresses left over from last year’s prom dress drive and thought people might be looking for some at this time of year.
“I had seen on Facebook some people posting that they were search of a dress,” she remarked, noting she still has plenty of dresses on hand.
For last year’s prom dress drive, the dresses all were priced significantly lower than what someone likely would spend on a brand new one.
The idea was to help in finding affordable formal wear.
But this time, Horton has decided to do it differently.
“It’s going to be a dress giveaway,” she stressed, saying the dresses won’t have a specific price.
“If they want to give a donation or pay whatever they can afford, that’s great,” Horton remarked.
“But a donation isn’t necessary.”
Any money raised will be donated to the local “I Am Awesome (And I know it)” self-esteem retreat for young women.
Horton believes it is a win-win situation.
“The girls’ retreat is an excellent program so it’s nice to be able to support that,” she reasoned.
“And, of course, it helps out those who might not be able to purchase a dress at full price.”
Horton said a variety of sizes and styles are available.
“Even if people are looking for something for a summer wedding or graduation, come have a look,” she urged.
The dress giveaway will take place Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
