Press Release
One new fire was reported in the Northwest Region yesterday.
Sioux Lookout Fire #10 was a small grass fire in Mishkeegogamang.
The community fire chief and a FireRanger crew from the Pickle Lake Fire Attack Base responded.
The blaze was put “out” at 0.3 hectares in size.
Meanwhile, the forest fire hazard is “low” across most of the region, with some “moderate” areas in the northwest sectors of the Red Lake and Sioux Lookout districts.
The hazard is forecast to begin rising in the northwest sector in the coming days as the weather clears there.
However, it is expected to remain “low” in the rest of the region.
Once rain and cooler temperatures passed through the region, the fire activity dropped.
