Fires going ‘out’

No new fires were reported in the Northwest Region over the weekend.
Meanwhile, a number of northern fires in the Nipigon, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake districts that were being monitored have been declared “out.”
There remain 22 active fires in the region as of press time.
The forest fire hazard is “moderate” in the west and east sectors of the region while a band of “high” hazard is running south to north in the centre.
In related news, a number of personnel have returned from western deployments, leaving 174 from Ontario in B.C. (109), Saskatchewan (63), and Alberta (two).
The province also is providing equipment, including fire hose, sprinkler kits, pumps, and chainsaws.
