Shelley DeGagne, left, and Phyllis Johnson were just two of the members of the Cabin Country Quilt Guild who gathered at the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau on Saturday to help make “touch quilts” for the local Alzheimer Society. The quilts—made of different textures and materials—provide sensory stimulation to those with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia. The quilting bee was held as part of Alzheimer Awareness Month, which will culminate with the organization’s annual “Forget Me Not” dinner Jan. 31 at La Place Rendez-Vous.
