Town residents who had frozen service lines last year are being urged to start running those taps.
Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown said this morning the town recently began getting reports of frozen service lines—about a month later that last year.
Nine frozen lines have reported since Wednesday, he noted.
Due to the prolonged frigid weather last winter, there was a total of 263 frozen service lines.
The town will be calling all the homeowners that were frozen a year ago to remind them to start “bleeding” immediately.
Brown said they are asked to keep running a stream of water about half the width of a pencil—just enough so the water’s always running—from the nearest fixture (tap) where your service line comes into the home.
This should be cold water, not hot.
ICI (industrial/commercial/institutional) water customers who will be starting to “bleed” should contact the town at 274-9893 so a meter reading can be performed in the near future.
