The Fort Frances Lakers can call themselves one of Canada’s 10 best Junior ‘A’ teams once again.
The Lakers moved up one spot to No. 10 in the latest CJHL top 20 rankings released yesterday.
Fort Frances (29-7-0-1) is on a 12-game winning streak and has the eighth-best winning percentage out of 129 CJHL teams (.797).
Meanwhile, Lakers’ goalie Nathan Park received consideration for the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player-of-the-week award after making 30 saves to beat the Minnesota Iron Rangers 2-1 in Hoyt Lakes last Wednesday.
But Park couldn’t make it three-straight weeks of a Laker getting the honour.
Instead, it went to English River Miners’ forward Alex Maticic, who notched four points in two games.
The Lakers take on the Miners tomorrow in their first game at the annual “SIJHL Showcase,” which is being held in Hoyt Lakes.
