Muskie curling quickly is becoming synonymous with success.
All three squads were undefeated at the NorWOSSA qualifier in Red Lake following this morning’s draw.
The girls’ team of skip Hailey Beaudry, third Nicole Hartlin, second Erin Tomalty, and lead Tory Beaudry sat at 3-0 after beating the Atikokan Voyageurs 9-4.
Yesterday, Beaudry’s crew slammed Whitefish Bay 15-3 in six ends before dumping the Kenora Broncos 11-2 in seven ends.
With six teams allowed to qualify in each division, and only five teams in the girls’ draw, the Muskies already are assured a berth in the NorWOSSA finals.
This afternoon’s final draw at 1 p.m. against defending NorWOSSA champ Jenna Poirier (Sioux Lookout) will decide first place at the qualifier.
In the four-team mixed division, Fort High also is guaranteed a NorWOSSA berth while currently holding down first place at 2-0 following wins over Kenora (10-2) and the Rainy River Owls (8-6).
The Muskie group has Anika Beaudry skipping but throwing third stones while third Jason Bazylewski is handling the job of throwing skip rocks.
Daniel Vandenbrand (second) and Maggie Lemesurier (lead) round out the team.
As for the seven-team boys’ division, Fort High (3-0-1) assured itself a spot in the top six yesterday with a 6-1 victory over the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints, an 8-8 tie with Rainy River, and an 8-1 thrashing of Kenora in six ends.
The Muskies then kept their roll going this morning with a 10-1 romp over Whitefish Bay in seven ends.
Third Reece Jones was unable to make the trip to Red Lake, leading to some positional shuffling for the team.
Chris Silver still is handling skip duties while Kurt McGuire moved up to third from second.
The second and lead positions have been rotated between the trio of Davis Jackson, Dawson Mihichuk, and Matthew Nowak.
The Muskie boys took on Atikokan late this morning, then will square off against the reigning NorWOSSA champion Red Lake Rams in their finale this afternoon.
