‘Elvis’ back for concert

Santa Claus may be coming to town on Christmas Eve to deliver presents, but many people are just as excited to know “The King” will be here next week to sing.
“The Gospel Music of the King,” featuring Elvis tribute artist Daylin James, is set for Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Knox United Church.
The show is a fundraiser for Community Living Fort Frances—a continuation of the campaign to raise $3.5 million for its new multi-purpose facility at the former Sixth Street School.
Executive director Alanna Barr said she’s looking forward to the show.
“I’ve heard lots of very positive comments about his Gospel concert,” she noted. “And, of course, he’s the grand champion of Elvis tribute artists for Gospel music.
“So that sort of says it all right there.”
Barr has seen James perform twice before, and personally can vouch that he always puts on an electrifying show.
He has been to Fort Frances several times in recent years, most recently in support of Community Living this past August, and Barr said she knows he has an ardent fan base here.
“There’s Elvis fans all over the place, no matter where you go,” she chuckled.
“Elvis is still alive, apparently, and in the building.”
Barr said there’s still tickets available for Tuesday’s show, which would make a great early Christmas present for that Elvis fan in your life.
“It will be a fun night out, a good concert, and some great entertainment,” she enthused.
Tickets cost $25 each, which are available at Good Impressions, Community Living, and International Travel Services, or by calling 274-5556.
If there’s any left, they will be sold at the door Tuesday night.
The doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7.
While Knox United Church is under construction, it remains handicap accessible, noted Barr.
She also said assistance will be provided for anyone who needs it.
