ENGAGE, a local young professionals network, plans to rally the community this Wednesday to make a statement about control of the area’s wood supply for the sake of the future of Fort Frances and Rainy River District.
A march will start at noon at the post office and finish in front of the mill by 1 p.m.
People are urged to march on both sides of the sidewalk down Scott Street.
“We are asking for the support of all people to join us and show our unity and our resolve to do whatever it takes to keep options open for our town,” ENGAGE co-ordinator Jamie Petrin, who also is an RRFDC intern, said in a press release.
“Everyone in this district is affected by Resolute’s decision and now is the time for our community to get ENGAGED,” she noted.
“Please show your support, and show Resolute and the Province of Ontario that we will not go without a fight,” Petrin added.
Business owners, staff, former mill employees and their families, and everyone else young and old are urged to attend and fight for the future of Fort Frances, she reiterated.
