Wake up

Dear editor:
As I commute daily to work this Hallowe’en season, I pass a house with a plastic skeleton swaying in the breeze.
A few houses down, I pass a house with a mock graveyard. Another house nearby has ghoulish bodies handing out on the porch.
These hideous Hallowe’en decor are just a few of many. Each time I pass these sights, I feel a dreadful aching and sorrow in my heart.
When we see all the people overseas and in our country dying daily for what they believe in, and then seeing us over in the western world playing around with death and things associated with death, it shows how lightly we are taking the violence and recent killings here and abroad.
The mock graveyard some put up for Hallowe’en easily could represent the graves of Christian children beheaded by ISIS terrorists simply because they did not deny their faith in Jesus Christ.
If we experienced death, disease, and destruction that many people in this world are facing today, would we still play around with Hallowe’en and things associated with death?
I think not.
Are people trying to foretell their futures by displaying skeletons and mock graveyards? It’s time to wake up and see that what is happening overseas will happen here, too, if we don’t realize the real and imminent threat.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
I only want what’s best for my nation and people. But if we don’t wake up and realize the real threat, we, too, will become a statistic.
