Somebody had to blink.
The last two undefeated teams in the Rainy River District Fastball League squared off last night at VanJura here, with the two-time defending champion Big Grassy Braves dumping the host Sight & Sound Wolves 14-6.
With the win, the Braves (9-0) took over sole possession of first place.
Jeff Morrison not only kept the Wolves in check with a solid pitching outing, but crushed two homers to aid his cause.
Jesse Tom and Linden Indian also belted round-trippers.
Matt Sweigard homered for the Wolves (7-1), with Marcel Pagee taking the loss.
In other games last night, the Dawson Tigers routed the visiting Sabaskong Lakers 33-9, the Big Island Huskies beat the host Sabaskong Cubs 11-5, and the Barwick Blue Knights took down the visiting Manitou Thunderbirds 13-6.
The game between the host Couchiching Raiders and Northwest Bay Chieftains was postponed, as was the one between Beef’s Warriors and the Eagles in Stratton.
