Dave Bruyere, second from left, helped his mother, Josephine Bruyere, cut the ribbon to officially open the new Couchiching First Nation Arena on Saturday. The arena is nicknamed “The Duke” after Josephine’s late husband and former Couchiching chief, Raymond “Dukesie” Bruyere. Accompanying them for the ceremony were Couchiching elder Dick Bird (far left), Treaty #3 Grand Chief Warren White, and Couchiching Chief Chuck MacPherson (far right).
