Fort Frances Power Corp. is in the process of converting all of the town’s old high-pressure sodium streetlights with new, brighter, more energy-efficient LED lights, such as this one on Armit Avenue. The ambitious replacement program, which will see the town’s 1,000-plus aged streetlights replaced, is costing the town about $800,000, but is expected to reap considerable electricity and maintenance savings to the tune of more than $110,000 a year going forward.
