On February 27, 2008 at 10:58 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police were contacted by Union Gas to conduct traffic control at the Keating Avenue and Kings Highway area due to a suspected gas odour. At 12:44 a.m. on February 28, 2008 there was an explosion at the J.W. Walker School that resulted in a fire. The Fort Frances Fire Department is currently at the scene and working to put the fire out.
