A memorial to Bryce Devoe, a local youth killed by lightning in late May, was unveiled Friday afternoon outside the Memorial Sports Centre during a ceremony attended by the Fort Frances Jr. Sabres hockey team, its owners, and Devoe’s family. A tree was planted there, with a plaque commemorating the teen in the ground in front of it. A short ceremony also was held before Friday night’s pre-season game, and the Sabres will wear Devoe’s #10, which he wore in hockey, on their helmets during their inaugural season in the SIJHL.
