Jay and Lori Flinders and Rachel Devoe looked on as Fort Frances Jr. Sabres vice-president Nancy Gardiman shared a few words during a memorial to Bryce Devoe, a local youth killed by lightning in late May, on Friday afternoon outside the Memorial Sports Centre. A plaque was unveiled in front of a tree planted there in Devoe’s memory. A short ceremony also was held before Friday night’s pre-season game against the Dryden Ice Dogs, and the Sabres will wear Devoe’s #10, which he wore in hockey, on their helmets during their inaugural season in the SIJHL.
