Bad taste

Dear Mike:
I have been using the fitness facilities at the Memorial Sport Centre and would like to share some comments regarding behaviour.
There are many people across the age spectrum who use the weight room on a regular basis. It’s great to see so many people who are fitness-oriented and are taking good care of their physical health.
Most of these people are very polite, considerate people who know how to behave in public. But I have noticed one or two of the younger patrons (really, only a couple) who consistently use profane language in the weight room, as well as talking “down” about others who aren’t present.
Quite frankly, I find this in bad taste. There might be a time and place for this but a public gym is not one of them.
For those of you who don’t participate in this behaviour, please give your friends a discreet reminder that they shouldn’t be swearing or bad-mouthing people at the gym; it’s just “bad form.”
This would sure help me out; I would find it very awkward if I felt compelled to ask someone to watch their language.
With sincere thanks,
JoAnne Formanek
