With one week left in the Aviva Community Fund national competition, the project to build an elevator at Knox United Church here is making great gains.
The “Knox Renewal” fundraising team was busy all weekend encouraging supporters to vote each day at www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf19056
As of this morning, the local project was sitting in 15th place—up from 20th place at midday Friday.
It must crack the top 10 before voting closes at noon next Monday (Nov. 25) to advance to the semi-final round.
Right now, a spot in the top 10 only is about 400 votes away.
The team has said its goal for this week is two-fold: first, to reach 1,000 supporters, and second, to ensure its existing supporters keep coming back to vote.
“At the end of yesterday’s voting, we had approximately 550 supporters, yet only about 300 of them cast their votes,” noted Bill Gushulak, who is helping to spearhead the online voting campaign.
“As the days pass, it gets more challenging to keep our supporters engaged when they have busy lives and many demands on their time,” he conceded.
Gushulak added others can help the team achieve its two goals by reminding their contacts to vote every day.
They also can talk about the project with colleagues, friends, family, and acquaintances, and inviting them to register and support the cause.
