Dear editor:
All that I can say is that the walking dead (zombies) made the front page twice in the Fort Frances Times, which only shows that the managing editor is hard up for true front-page coverage.
There might have been 400 curious people at the event, which was a drop in the bucket compared to the many people who were sane enough not to go.
“What does Hallowe’en celebrate?”—written by Toby Miller—outlined the true meaning of the annual event.
“Why would anyone want to make fun of something that terrifies and brings people into the bondage of fear?” Miller wrote, adding, “Men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.”
“Could it be that those who dress themselves in garments of death, tattoo logos of death on their bodies, and seem to have an interest in death actually are crying out for answers?”
There is enough carnage in our world today, whether in war or Mother Nature through floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, etc., without having the meaningless aspect of Hallowe’en!
As to what I believe, most people like sunshine over cloudiness. So why do some people think that the Hallowe’en dress of the living dead is so great over what kids dress up as on Hallowe’en for tricks and treats?
Absolutely no comparison whatsoever.
Front-page photos are for meaningful events, not garbage.
There are many ways of raising money for charity, but not the one shown on the front page in the past two weeks.
Thank you,
