The “Citizen of the Year” committee has met and made a decision as to who the 26th honouree will be.
This decision will be on the agenda next Tuesday (Nov. 12) for council approval.
There were 12 submissions altogether, said Human Resources manager Christine Ruppenstein, who took on the responsibility for “Citizen of the Year” nominations for the first time this year.
“The online application process worked very well, with the majority of the nominations being submitted this way,” she noted.
“We will continue to do this in the future.”
Committee members Linda Hamilton, Nick Wihnan, and Gord McBride, along with Couns. Andrew Hallikas and Paul Ryan, with Mayor Roy Avis as ex officio, made their selection last week.
The “Citizen of the Year” is expected to be honoured at the town’s annual appreciation dinner.
A report regarding the date and location of the dinner also is on the next council agenda.
