The Associates of Ste. Marguerite d’Youville will hold their annual coat drive next week—an event that has become appreciated by many in recent years.
The public is encouraged to drop off clean, used winter coats in good condition for men, women, and children at the East End Hall on Monday, Oct. 28 and Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 1-4 p.m.
Mittens, hats, and boot also are welcome.
Those in need of these winter items then can come by the hall on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 31 from 1-3 p.m. and get them for free for their families and themselves.
No early visitors please.
Organizer Anna McNay said the annual coat drive is something people look forward to, and she’s already been getting calls from people about it.
“I got a phone call the other day and this gentleman said, ‘I was asking somebody what to do with my mom’s coats because we just put her in Rainycrest,’” noted McNay.
“He brought me 10 coats. Pretty lucky,” she enthused.
In the event there are any coats left after the giveaway, McNay said they still will end up going to a good cause and not be thrown away.
