The Town of Fort Frances is seeking more nominations for its “Citizen of the Year” award, with the deadline coming up Monday (Oct. 28).
Human Resources manager Christine Ruppenstein, who is taking on the responsibility for the nominations for the first time this year, said she’s received “a handful” in the past couple of weeks.
“I’d like to see more come in,” she admitted.
“I can’t gauge it from last year or the year before, but I would definitely encourage more applications, that’s for sure.”
Ruppenstein said all of the nominations have come in from individuals who filled out the form offered online on the town’s website.

Those wanting to nominate anyone who has done an outstanding job for the community also can pick up a paper nomination form at the front desk of the Civic Centre.
As well, they can download a PDF and print it off from the town’s website at www.fort-frances.com/notice/629
In all cases, completed nomination forms must be returned to the Civic Centre by 4 p.m. on Monday.
The town’s Citizen of the Year selection committee then will convene, review all the applications, and put forth a recommendation for council’s final approval.
The chosen individual will be recognized at the town’s annual appreciation dinner.
