Press Release
The local Legion Ladies Auxiliary is busy preparing for its annual Remembrance Day tea and bake sale to be held Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Legion.
Baking and candy will be for sale, as well as meat pies, cabbage rolls, perogies, crafts, and much more.
There also will be a cookie walk and a 50/50 draw.
If anyone would like to donate baking or anything for the various tables, call Alfreda Easton at 274-9105.
Arrangements will be made for pick-up, or items can be dropped off prior to the tea (come to the Legion back door).
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary has been a very active group since receiving its charter in 1927, donating countless hours and financial help in every way needed.
Monies raised through the many events planned and organized by the members have been put back into the community, with donations made to Fort Frances High School bursaries, the “Community Chest,” Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc., and many community efforts.
Meanwhile, the auxiliary’s Colour Party can be seen at events held throughout the year.
This past year, president Silvia Gunderson and first vice-president Alfreda Easton were honoured with the Queen’s Jubilee medal for volunteerism to our community and auxiliary members are very proud of these two ladies.
If anyone is interested in joining this hard-working but fun group of ladies, call membership chairman Linda Larocque at 274-1567.
The auxiliary meets monthly. New members are always welcome.
