The Fort Frances Fire Rescue Service is advising all residents that the derailed train car that is leaking hydrogen peroxide at Resolute Forest Products is contained and is of no risk to the public at this time.
A Hazmat Team is on scene and is working in conjunction with representatives from Resolute Forest Products and emergency personnel to ensure that this situation is resolved with no adverse effects to the public or the environment.
Access to the area is still being limited to all traffic. Barricades will remain in place on Central Avenue at the intersections of King’s Highway, First Street East and Scott Street.
The Town of Fort Frances is still advising that all vehicles and pedestrians avoid this area to ensure the public safety.
