The Town of Fort Frances is making is easier than ever to nominate someone for its “Citizen of the Year” award by offering the option of online forms.
Those wanting to nominate someone online can go to the town’s website and fill out a nomination form.
These can be found at www.fort-frances.com/form/citizen-year-nomination-form
Human Resources manager Christine Ruppenstein, who is taking on the responsibility for “Citizen of the Year” nominations for the first time this year, said she wanted to make it easier for people—and more accessible for people—to participate in the nomination process.
She added filling out the online form is easy.
“You can click on the nomination form, complete it online, and hit the ‘submit’ button, and it will come directly to my inbox,” Ruppenstein explained.
She noted it even might boost the number of nominations the town gets.
“Hopefully, it does encourage people to submit the person that they would like to see
become ‘Citizen of the Year,’ and makes it easier for them to do so,” said Ruppenstein.
For those who prefer to submit their nominations on paper, Ruppenstein said they have two options:
•they can pick up a paper nomination form at the front desk of the Civic Centre; or
•they can download a PDF and print it off from the town’s website at www.fort-frances.com/notice/629
In all cases, completed nomination forms must be returned to the town hall by 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.
As in past years, the town is looking for a resident of the Town of Fort Frances who has made a difference in our community.
Anyone who has done an outstanding job for the community in any way is eligible for the award.
The only stipulation is that the recipient be a resident of the Town of Fort Frances and that the nominee not presently hold elected office.
This will be the 26th time the town has given out the “Citizen of the Year Award.”
Last year’s honouree was Ken “Kenno” Christiansen.
