The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is anticipating higher traffic volumes at the Fort Frances port of entry this Labour Day weekend and would like to remind travellers to plan their border crossing to avoid delays.
The CBSA advises travellers to plan their border crossing outside of peak traffic periods, if possible, and to check border wait times on its website or on Twitter (@CBSA_FFB).
Peak traffic volumes are anticipated to be today (Aug. 29) from 2-8 p.m, tomorrow (Aug. 30) from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and on Saturday from noon-4 p.m., when border wait times may exceed 30 minutes.
Travellers also may choose to enter Canada via the Rainy River port of entry, where peak traffic volume is anticipated to be tomorrow (Aug. 30) from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
As well, travellers can help speed up processing by ensuring they have proper identification for everyone in their vehicle readily available upon arrival at the primary inspection booth and receipts for purchases in hand.
The CBSA would like to remind travellers to declare all firearms or weapons when entering Canada.
If you don’t, CBSA officers may seize the weapons and file criminal charges.
Those bearing firearms must prove they are entitled to possess a firearm in Canada.
Most weapons are prohibited from entering Canada, including Tasers, brass knuckles, pepper spray, and similar items.
