The town is paying for extra water given out during the “Kraft Celebration Tour” festivities here Sunday after initial supplies ran out.
Council agreed last night to reimburse the Fort Frances Curling Club up to $600 to pay for water and ice which had to be purchased to keep the crowd hydrated on the scorcher of a day.
Mayor Roy Avis said he was keenly aware more water was needed at the event.
At the time when the extra supplies were fetched, about seven people had been adversely affected by the heat.
One person had to be taken to hospital.
The mayor added the expenditure was necessary for the health and safety of those in attendance.
