The Rainy River District Fastball League season has come down to a win-or-go home scenario for the third-ranked Barwick Knights and fifth-seeded Sight & Sound Wolves in a semi-final showdown tonight in Barwick.
The first pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
The Knights are licking their wounds after getting dumped 15-0 by the defending champion and top-seeded Big Grassy Braves there Tuesday night.
Jeff Morrison went the distance for the complete-game shutout while George Oltsher took the loss.
The Wolves, meanwhile, go into tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak after downing fourth-ranked Manitou 3-1 there Tuesday.
Sight& Sound got another strong pitching performance from John Desaulniers to spark the victory.
Manitou hurler Bob Andy was good—but not quite good enough—in getting tagged with the loss.
Big Grassy will host the winner of tonight’s contest in the league final next Tuesday (Aug. 27).
A win will give Big Grassy back-to-back titles.
A loss, however, would force a second-and-deciding game next Thursday (Aug. 29) because the Braves have yet to lose in the double-elimination format.
