The Rainy River District OPP conducted marine patrols on Rainy Lake over the long weekend, which resulted in several charges.
On Sunday at 5 p.m., a vessel was stopped at the Bear Passage channel on Rainy Lake.
As a result of an inspection, the operator was charged with operating a vessel with safety equipment not in good working order.
Around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, a vessel was stopped at Rocky Narrows on Rainy Lake.
As a result of an investigation, two males were charged with consuming liquor in other than licensed premises, residence, or private place.
Around 1 p.m. on Sunday, a vessel was stopped under the Causeway.
A subsequent inspection of the vessel lead to the male operator being charged with operating a vessel with safety equipment not readily accessible and available for immediate use.
Also Sunday around 11:30 a.m., two vessels were stopped under the Causeway.
As a result on an inspection of safety equipment and proof of competency, one female was charged with operating a pleasure craft without prescribed competency contrary.
A male, meanwhile, was charged with operating a vessel with safety equipment not readily accessible and available for immediate use.
Members of the public who choose to operate vessels on Ontario’s waterways are reminded to ensure all required safety equipment is on board and readily accessible for use.
Also ensure you have the proper licensing and proof of competency to operate the vessel as required.
