At approximately 5 a.m. today, the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence located on the 1000 block of First Street East.
When the officers arrived at the scene, a male barricaded himself inside the residence.
For the safety of the public, members of the Rainy River District OPP detachment have set up a perimeter surrounding the residence as the investigation continues.
The OPP Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in to provide support with containing the area.
The Fort Frances Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.
The occurrence is in the early stages and the OPP are requesting members of the public refrain from attending the 1000 block of First Street for their safety and that of the officers at the scene until further notice.
