The Fort Frances Lakers added International Falls native Lucas DeBenedet to their roster late Tuesday afternoon in their first signing of the off-season.
The 18-year-old centre had a strong senior season for the Broncos’ hockey team last winter, scoring 25 goals and adding 31 assists in 25 games.
“We are very excited to have Lucas join our team as he had many choices for next year,” enthused Lakers’ head coach and GM Wayne Strachan.
“Lucas will bring speed and skill to our lineup, and we feel that he will be a big part of our organization this upcoming season,” Strachan added.
Lakers’ fans will get their first look at DeBenedet when the team holds its annual summer development camp July 19-21 at Bronco Arena in the Falls.
