Power outage affects district

More than 4,100 Hydro One customers west of Fort Frances experienced a power outage yesterday afternoon.
A forced power interruption began around 3 p.m., with power restored before 4:30 p.m.
A Hydro One representative said a crew had to replace an insulator at its transmission station in Fort Frances.
“During maintenance, we saw that it needed replacing, so they scheduled it and replaced it as soon as they could,” the spokeswoman said.
She added it was better to have a temporary outage and fix it now, rather than having a longer outage if the equipment were to fail.
Areas affected include Alberton, Devlin, Emo, Barwick, and Rainy River.
