Hotel guest stricken

Press Release

The International Falls Ambulance Service responded to a local hotel Monday regarding an unresponsive person, resulting in a portion of the hotel being closed down temporarily.
The patient was brought to the Rainy Lake Medical Center and later airlifted to hospital in Duluth, and is in critical condition.
It appears the patient’s condition may have resulted from carbon monoxide entering their room.
The source of the problem has been abated with the closing of the pool room and the sleeping room.
Local officials, through testing, have determined the rest of the hotel is safe to be occupied.
City officials, including the city’s public health officer, have been in contact with state officials, who were assisting in determining the cause of the incident.
