Car wash renamed, upgraded

The touchless car wash located at the corner of Second Street East and Mowat Avenue has been upgraded with new equipment to make it better for customers and the owners alike.
It also sports a new name.
The business, which was known as “Lovin’ Touch” for years, now is known as the “Auto Spa.”
Mark Caron, who bought the car wash last year along with business partner Ron MacKinnon, said the new name was appropriate for what is, in many ways, a new car wash.
“We went with a whole new wash system,” he explained. “We replaced the existing one back from ’98.
“We went with a brand new single-arm car wash system,” Caron said. “Upgraded the lighting, replaced the garage doors.
“Just a big makeover is what we’re doing right now,” he added.
Caron noted the old system was a lot more mechanical.
“Everything was on the ground,” he said. “It kind of intimidated some people when they were driving in.
“This one now is all aerial, nothing on the ground, a lot less moving parts, and does a really good, high-quality wash,” Caron noted.
While car wash prices went up a bit, Caron admitted the makeover has been “quite an expense” and the owners have to start recouping some of their costs.
