Canada Post working on mail delay

Residents living along the RR1 routes in Alberton have been experiencing delays in mail delivery but Canada Post assures they are doing their best to rectify the situation.
“There is a vacant position along that route,” noted John Caines, a spokesperson for Canada Post in Ottawa.
“The superintendent is delivering as much mail as they can on any given day out there,” he added, saying they are trying their best to get the mail out daily.
Caines noted obviously they are not able to get everyone’s mail out each day, but stressed people shouldn’t be going more than two days without mail.
“But if we don’t have anything for you that day, their won’t be anything delivered obviously,” he remarked.
“But generally speaking, we are getting the mail out to the routes every day as often as we can.”
Caines added the local post office is in the process of staffing the position.
“Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we will have a new rural suburban mail carrier out there and it will go back to normal delivery,” he said.
The Fort Frances Times became aware of the delivery delay after fielding complaints from customers over not receiving their newspapers that are mailed to them.
“One customer has received just one paper in the last three weeks,” Times’ office manager Linda Plumridge had indicated last week.
Bruce Caldwell said he received one of his newspapers a week late, although the following week’s edition was delivered on Thursday as usual.
But after receiving mail on April 18, he did not see any mail again until April 23.
“And we usually get some sort of mail on Monday,” Caldwell noted.
“I don’t know what’s happened.”
RR1 residents are hoping daily mail delivery resumes as soon as possible.
