The Fort Frances Times has been fielding complaints lately from customers on RR1 routes in Alberton who have not been receiving their newspapers that are mailed to them each week via Canada Post.
It seems the local post office has been having some mail delivery issues, especially in the rural areas, the Times has been told.
“One customer has received just one paper in the last three weeks,” Times’ office manager Linda Plumridge noted yesterday.
Bruce Caldwell said he received one of his newspapers a week late, although last week’s edition was delivered on Thursday as usual.
“But we haven’t had mail since,” he remarked. “And we usually get some sort of mail on Monday.
“I don’t know what’s happened,” added Caldwell, who hopes the delivery issue is cleared up soon.
Plumridge said she inquired about the problem with the local post office, following the proper procedures required.
She also has ensured all of the newspapers have been addressed correctly.
“It’s very frustrating because we know our subscribers want their papers in a timely manner,” Plumridge stressed.
Customers who have stopped by the Times’ office have been able to pick up a copy of the paper.
Others have asked for a second paper to be sent out. And while Plumridge is willing to do that, it doesn’t resolve the delivery issue.
“We’re trying to handle the situation to the best of our abilities,” she remarked.
“That’s about all we can do at this point.”
A call to the local post office was not returned as of press time today.
