Ill-advised

Dear editor:
In reference to your article regarding town council discussing the consideration of raising town library fees for non-residents, I have been a member of the Fort Frances Library for 33 years.
I live in Emo and have been happy to pay my yearly fee even as I have seen it increase over the years due to inflation, etc.
I take issue with one of the town councillors commenting that out-of-town fees should be raised to reflect what Fort Frances residents pay. He confuses me, to say the least, as I do not get money back from the Emo library because I joined the Fort Frances library.
I fail to see his reasoning.
On another note, I live in Emo and it always has been my pleasure to go to the library in the Fort. The staff are excellent and they have put up with all my foibles over the last 33 years.
I thought Margaret Sedgwick was a first-class head librarian or CEO, or whatever they call them now. Her staff always went that extra mile to see that I got what was needed if they had it.
I’m not too sure I will continue with my membership after this year as I mainly now use the library facilities to augment the OLS books I download on my computer.
I think the council is ill-advised to even bring this subject up. I know they are struggling for money, but this is not a good PR way of doing it.
