Continuing with its goal of making assisted living a reality for district residents, the local Assisted Living Action Group (A.L.A.G.) will hold an “Aging with Dignity” presentation tomorrow (April 10) at 2 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
The public is encouraged to attend either of the two presentations, which will be the same, said A.L.A.G. chair Erma Armit.
The purpose of the presentation is:
•to share information on what A.L.A.G. is and where it’s at with regards to the “Aging with Dignity” initiative;
•to invite comments, questions, suggestions, and concerns from community members; and
•to gauge levels of interest and support for this initiative.
“Information gathered will help us to move forward to the next phase,” Armit said.
A.L.A.G. previously has organized two strategic planning workshops involving older adults and district service partners.
It also has conducted an “Aging at Home” survey for older adults in Rainy River District, and completed a report on that survey followed by a strategic action plan.
A.L.A.G. now is at a stage where it is searching for appropriate property in Rainy River District.
A.L.A.G. recognizes a definite gap in accommodation and service options for the local aging population, and is determined to find an innovative solution before it is too late, Armit stressed.
